The link, OFFICIAL TOM WAITS says I don’t have permission to access. What’s up with that?
After seeing Waits at The Louisville Palace my wife was supportive when I came up with a ticket to the Cleveland HOB midnight show that started at 1:25 the following Monday morning. I flew to Cleveland via Cincy on Saturday, the day before the show, and partied with myself all day Saturday. Come Sunday morning I find out that my ticket had been cancelled. The dude that was bringing the ticket had purchased two on his credit card and his wife–with the same address but different credit card–had also bought two tickets. Ticket Master emailed the cancellation and the friend with the ticket didn’t check his email until he and his wife arrived in Cleveland on Sunday morning. Luckily I had my laptop with me and went straight to eBay. A 30ish year old social worker from Pittsburg had an extra ticket when his fiance cancelled because she had to sit with a dog that was dying. So a dying dog is why I got to see Tom Waits at the Cleveland HOB. I never found out if he lived or not but the show was awesome as I stood transfixed for a little more than two solid hours as Tom and the band gave it all. The bouncer didn’t make me empty my pockets when his wand detected my $10 mini camera that I’d bought at the airport for $50. I told him it was my keys and he looked straight at me and both of us realized I was old enough to be his father so he didn’t make Dad empty his pockets. I took a million and they turned out pretty good for a ten dollar camera. I was dog tired after the show but doggone glad I made it to the show.
