Stewart Wants To Cover More Waits
I’m sure a lot of you have strong feelings about Rod Stewart, but no matter what side you are on, please don’t kill the messenger. Stewart, who had a top 10 hit with his version of Tom Waits’ “Downtown Train”, has decided to finish up interpreting American Standards and is looking for new material which may include more Waits songs:
AP: What other styles would you like to explore that might surprise people?
Stewart: I don’t think I’m going to surprise anybody. I’ve done every style of music I could possibly do apart from rap and I don’t think I’m going to attempt that in my late stage (laughs). I’d like to do an acoustic album of maybe obscure Tom Waits, Bob Dylan songs.
